A heritage Putney home reworked from the inside out, converting awkward, underused rooms into a luxurious downstairs master suite, with refined finishes and considered detailing carried throughout the home.

After years as an investment property, the home no longer supported the clients' lifestyle or modern family living
Generous room sizes, but the layout felt inefficient and disconnected with awkward transitional spaces
Upstairs master bedroom lacked both an ensuite and walk-in robe, making it impractical as a long-term retreat
Downstairs rooms, an outdated bathroom and redundant playroom, lacked purpose, storage, or flow
Family needed additional bathroom functionality, improved storage, and more cohesive, calmer living spaces
Beautiful heritage character needed thoughtful modernisation without losing warmth and charm

Through a highly considered floorplan redesign, we completely reimagined the way the home functions. Rather than retaining the oversized upstairs bedroom as the master suite, we strategically converted it into a standard bedroom and focused on transforming the underutilised downstairs rooms into a luxurious new master retreat. The former bathroom, spare room, and long unusable playroom were reconfigured into a beautifully resolved master suite featuring a custom walk-in robe, spacious hotel-inspired ensuite, and adjoining powder room. A bespoke bar was also integrated into the living space, elevating the functionality of the entertaining areas while creating a stronger connection between the private and shared zones of the home. Structural openings, including a custom arched doorway, were carefully introduced to soften transitions between spaces and create a stronger architectural identity throughout the renovation. Within the ensuite, every detail was designed to balance luxury with practicality. Full-height tiling, layered lighting, custom joinery, heated flooring, integrated niches, and carefully zoned wet and dry areas transformed the compact footprint into a calming, high-functioning retreat. The main bathroom was also upgraded to better support family living, improving storage, usability, and overall spatial efficiency while maintaining consistency with the home's refined material palette. To complete the transformation, fresh paintwork, new carpet, shutters, and curtains were introduced throughout the home, bringing softness, cohesion, and renewed warmth to the heritage interiors.
